What do we mean by IEC

Import Export Code Certificate is basic requirement for every person who is engaged in an activity of Import and Export in India. EC (importer Exporter Code) number is a 10 digit code number given to an exporter or importer by the regional office of the Director general of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Department of Commerce, Government of India.

FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS ARE MANDATORY TO APPLY FOR IEC.

  1. PAN and Adhar card of the applicant if applicant is proprietor
  2. If applicant is company/firm/llp; PAN of organization, Udhyog Adhar along with PAN and Adhar card of all director/partners.
  3. Valid Email Id and Mobile Number of applicant (For OTP)
  4. Postal address of applicant along with its proof
  5. Cancelled cheque of the applicant

What is the validity of IEC

An IEC number allotted to an applicant shall be valid for all its branches / divisions / units / factories. IEC is valid for ever and no need to renew the same.

Surrender of IEC

If an IEC holder does not wish to operate allotted IEC number, he may surrender the same by informing issuing authority. On receipt of such intimation, issuing authority shall immediately cancel it and electronically transmit it to DGFT and Customs authorities
